Our little camper...

We decided last minute to take our first camping trip this weekend.  Rio has been in such a great mood lately, even with the bruises he is suffering learning to walk (see right cheek above)
We almost aborted our mission on multiple occasions...we didn't research spots too well and thought we could just wing it...luckily the third spot worked out.  But on the way we stopped for lunch in Buena Vista and saw the Rio Grande train bridge.  Had to get a pic!

Anyone that knows Alex, knows he is a bit of a gear head.  He took getting a new "family" tent to the max and got a 6 person, two room, plus "garage" REI tent.  Looks ridiculous....and was amazing!!!  Rio and I slept on an airbed in one room and MOby and Alex in the other.   We had been contemplating getting a camper, but this tent is so great we don't think we want one anymore.  Long gone are our days of lightweight backpacking (But car camping is so much more luxorurious and comfortable)

The campsite we ended up finding is a "secret" Gold prospecting spot, we met a few serious prospectors (six shooters on hip and all!!!) They were nice enough to offer tips (which is rare). Alex plans to return with his equipment soon.
My favorite part about camping, a campfire and s'mores.  Since Rio has turned one, we have lifted the gate on his eating-he had three s'mores!!! (just kidding, but we do let him taste whatever we are eating)

And my second favorite part about camping, the early mornings:)  And a nap later;)
When Rio cries and sleeps is when I think he looks the most like Alex..anyone else see it above?
And lastly and totally randomly- a cute picture of Rio at daycare, we switched a few months back and are so happy with his new center and teachers.  At pick-up usually the kids are all sitting around listening to the teacher above play the ukelale. They are truely helping foster all sorts of learning!!!
